We’ve heard it before; Mind, Body Spirit. Providing high vibration foods for your body will improve your mind and your spirit whilst improving your physical appearance; these are the benefits of healthy eating. You’ll feel better, be more focused and have more energy.
If you’re struggling to get out of bed or wake up with puffy eyes or low energy, there’s a good chance you need to change what you are eating. If you’re feeling down based on your personal situation then eating a high raw food diet can help. You’ll need to work on healing you mind, your spirit and your body and certainly food does help.
What Foods do I Eat to Improve Mood
If you speak to a wholefood healer they will tell you that yellow foods improve mood. Such things as bananas, yellow bell peppers, pineapple and yellow tomatoes.
What’s important is to avoid highly processed foods. Even making a small change like adding a salad to your meal will help. This may be the best first step you can make to eating healthier.
When it comes to snacks, stock your cupboards with things that still give you that sweet fix but are not bad for you. I find having apple juice sweetened cranberries, dates, dried sulphur-free apricots (if they are brown in colour they won’t have sulphur) and prunes are great to get that sweet fix.
Don’t kid yourself. If you think you are buying that chocolate for the kids who won’t be home from your ex until next week then re-think that. When you’re at the supermarket, just don’t buy it and tell yourself that you can buy it next time, when the kids are home. The self-sabotage is at play here.
Consider swapping out something that you eat that you know is bad with something just slightly better for you. All these little steps are a path to better eating.
Self Talk
Stop and listen to the whispers you tell yourself. Be aware of the voice in your head. You need to start talking to yourself nicely. Negative talk is linked to eating disorders and the relationship with food.
It’s so easy to not hear the whispers and for that reason I encourage you to look at your actions. Are you going to the pantry or fridge without being hungry? What event happened for you to want to eat? Are you hungry? Really? Consider having some filtered water and tell yourself to see if you still need food after that.
Often if we have seen a therapist and started dialogue on the problems in our life, the first thing we want to do is go home and eat…in privacy! I’ve watched a lot of Marisa Peer. This video below is worth watching. I also recommend you put into your phone a reminder that comes up as often as you need that says “I am enough”.
Don’t buy multiples. If you’re going to be bad, try to just pick something small that is lower in calories than other things and only get ONE.
Once you start to eat less processed foods you won’t want to go near them. It will take some transitioning though so don’t place unreal expectations on yourself that you will be completely healthy as of ‘tomorrow’.
If you do have high expectations and don’t meet them you’ll likely spiral down and take a whole lot of unhealthy food with you on that journey. Choose not to go there. Yes,it is a choice.
Mindful Eating
If you are going to have a treat then I want you to take a moment, take small mouthfuls, close your eyes and think about the texture, flavour and enjoy the moment. Then, once done, tell yourself how great that you only had one. Then get on with the rest of your day. Distraction or goal setting and taking action is a good way to move you away from food.
Trauma Weight
When you feel like you’re in a war zone, it’s super easy to put on weight as the body tries to put that extra barrier around you and the world as a form of protection. Just be mindful of this. Awareness of the body can help make better choices. Ask yourself questions about how you are feeling and then self-soothe without food. Put on a trauma healing program and grant yourself the space to shift the emotion. Cry, rock, sob – whatever you need. Let your body release, feel the pain and shift it. This is a great way to move away from unhealthy foods and toward healthy eating.
Healthy Eating Recipes
One of the best ways to start to eat healthy is to be prepared. Pick out what you want for the week, buy only those things on your shopping list and stick to the recipes. There are many raw food recipes free on the web or, someone I love, is Cynthia Louise a wholefood chef. Look her up.
I personally believe that a high raw food diet that is organic and fresh is going to give you the buzz you need. It’s pure nourishment for the mind, body and spirit.
